MY STORY

FROM ANXIOUS TO PEACE

WHERE I STARTED

I'm Dev, born and raised in Detroit, father of five, now a grandfather too. I built a career as a strength and conditioning coach, and homeschooling was part of how my kids were raised. On paper, it looked like the life I was supposed to have. I thought I'd be married until the day I died.

THE WALL

Marriage ended. I lost my job too. Two of the biggest things a man leans on, gone within months of each other. I wasn't just losing a marriage or a paycheck, I was losing the version of myself I'd built everything around since my 20s. I had to figure out who I was going to be next, as a single man, starting over on every front at once.

THE REBUILD

I didn't wait to feel ready. I got in the gym and trained seriously, and at 51 I stepped on a bodybuilding stage for the first time and won my class. A year later I did it again, placed high and medaled. That wasn't about vanity, it was proof to myself that rebuilding was possible at an age most men have already written themselves off. Iron Father came out of that. Not a theory I read somewhere, a rebuild I continue to live, and perhaps right along with you.

WHAT I BELIEVE

I believe a man's word matters more than his excuses. I believe fatherhood doesn't end at the divorce papers, it just gets harder and more necessary. I believe faith and discipline aren't old-fashioned ideas, they're the ones that actually hold up when everything else falls apart. And I believe fifty is not the finish line, not for your body, your family, or your purpose. That's what Iron Father is built on. There are fewer years ahead after 50, which is exactly why the urgency to live them well is higher, not lower.
